The miners accuse Guruve North Zanu-PF legislator Tendai Pinduka and Eureka Mine executives of orchestrating the crackdown to sideline rival syndicates from accessing gold ore dumps.Speaking anonymously, affected miners claim the police deployment was unsanctioned and aimed at granting exclusive access to ore dumps to syndicates linked to the legislator and mine officials.
“We’ve been warned that we’ll know no peace if we continue loading ore from this area,” one miner said.The clashes, which escalated from late last week, have left several community members injured and living in fear of further ambushes. Another miner said his sibling was hospitalised due to the violence and lamented the lack of response from authorities despite formal complaints.”We’ve exhausted all avenues, but our reports have yielded no results,” he said.Efforts to reach MP Pinduka and Eureka Mine spokesperson Tinago were unsuccessful. Pinduka initially promised to return calls but later ignored follow-up messages.
