Damaged cash-in-transit truck after a robbery and shootout in Brindhaven. A dramatic cash-in-transit (CIT) robbery unfolded on Monday afternoon on Old Inanda Road in Brindhaven, Verulam sparking a shootout between suspects and private security. According to a statement from private security company, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), its Operations Centre received multiple calls from members of the public, reporting a robbery in progress accompanied by explosions in the area.

It said Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they encountered heavily armed suspects believed to have been acting as spotters. A shootout ensued between officers and the suspects. During the exchange of gunfire, a RUSA response vehicle sustained two gunshot impacts.

Firearms that are believed to have been discarded by the suspects while they were fleeing the cash heist scene. The suspects fled the scene in two vehicles, heading in the direction of Inanda.
