Minister of Tourism, Rodney Sikumba, has reaffirmed the importance of strengthening domestic tourism as a catalyst for economic growth. He noted that Zambia’s competitiveness and long-term prosperity depend on fully harnessing domestic tourism, and commended hospitality establishments, including Chansolo Lodge for expanding their facilities. And, Mr Sikumba emphasised that traditional ceremonies foster unity in diversity, adding that culture remains the foundation of national identity.
The Minister further encouraged local tourism entrepreneurs to engage with the Ministry for guidance on accessing financing to upgrade and expand their businesses.He added that the country’s current improving economic performance is attracting international investors, particularly in the hospitality sector, with more hotel developments anticipated.Meanwhile, Mr Sikumba confirmed that President Hakainde Hichilema will grace this year’s Nc’wala Traditional Ceremony at the invitation of Paramount Chief Mpezeni.Eastern Province Regional Tourism Development Coordinator, Frank Mtolo, said his office is focused on ensuring growth of the hospitality industry in the province.He observed that facilities such as Chansolo Lodge in Chipata have expanded capacity to provide adequate accommodation for visitors, especially during this year’s Nc’wala Traditional Ceremony.
