Runners from across the country are expected to take part in the Totalsports Two Oceans training runs to be held in the coming weeks. Coaches, experts, experienced runners and road-running veterans believe participating in training runs for an event is essential as the athletes can familiarise themselves with the route. The official Two Oceans race days are from April 10 to 12.

Annual races such as the Comrades Marathon, Two Oceans, Chatsworth Marathon and others all have official training runs weeks before the big day, or in some cases athletes organise their own training runs. Maxed Elite Running Club team manager Martin Ngwenya said on Tuesday: “As an athlete you want to run the marathon comfortably, and the training run is the way to go. Remember, road running is a mental game.

So doing those runs before the race itself can help you mentally.” The Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon team, together with the event’s sponsors and partners, are rolling out six official training runs in the build-up to the 2026 event. “We’re excited to introduce six official TTOM training runs as we build towards the 2026 Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon,” said Chris Goldschmidt, chairperson of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC. “These training runs are not just preparation for race day, they’re an opportunity for runners of all levels to connect, grow and share in the spirit of the Two Oceans Marathon.” Open exclusively to 2026 Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon entrants, each training run will offer a 21km and a 12km route.
