TNM plc say while they will continue supporting sports development in the country, they are not ready to sponsor football this year. TNM marketing director Sobhuza Ngwenya said this on Thursday night during the 2025 TNM Super League Awards at Sunbird Mount Soche in Blantyre in reaction to Football Association of Malawi’s (FAM) offer to consider switching to national cup sponsorship. He said: “This year, our plan was to continue with the Super League sponsorship but, with the current scenario, we have to sit down, reflect and map the way forward.

“We have heard about FAM’s offer of the national cup slot, but we have to think about it. But what I can say is that TNM will remain committed to supporting sports in Malawi and will continue exploring initiatives that inspire Malawians.” Minister of Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture Alfred Gangata, who was the guest of honour during the ceremony, also asked TNM to continue supporting football and sports, in general. The 2025 awards pulled down the curtain on TNM plc as sponsors of the country’s top-flight league after 19 years of sponsorship.

This follows the recent unveiling of FDH Bank plc as the new sponsor by the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) on a five-year K5 billion sponsorship. He said the legacy of TNM league sponsorship will live forever in the hearts of Malawians. Sulom president Gilbert Mittawa said they still look forward to further partnership with TNM towards football development in the country.
