A Pakistani TikTok influencer dies after being forced into a marriage by her family against her will.

The Pakistani social media community is mourning the loss of popular TikTok creator Sumeera Rajput, whose life was tragically cut short amid allegations of coercion into an unwanted marital union.

The 35-year-old digital content creator, who amassed over 58,000 followers and a million engagement actions on the platform, was found unresponsive in her Ghotki district residence in Sindh province. Local authorities have detained two individuals as investigations continue into the suspicious circumstances surrounding her passing.

According to statements from Rajput’s teenage daughter, the social media personality had been administered toxic substances followingher rejection of a marriage proposal. This heartbreaking case follows a disturbing pattern of violence targeting women who gain visibility through digital platforms.

This tragedy echoes last month’s fatal shooting of 17-year-old Sana Yousaf, another rising TikTok personality.

Police reports indicate her assailant, 22-year-old Umar Hayat, acted after she declined his romantic advances. Yousaf had built a substantial following by blending cultural content with advocacy for women’s empowerment and educational access.

The National Commission on the Status of Women has strongly denounced these attacks. Commission Chairperson Ume Laila Azhar emphasized:

“We remain committed to ensuring justice prevails, regardless of attempts to justify these crimes through distorted concepts of honor or exploit legal technicalities.”
