“Thula” means “quiet,” But clearly nobody told the microphone

Hip-hop lovers have a new addition for their playlists: legendary rapper Phyzix has just released a new track titled “Thula,” featuring a lineup of Blantyre’s finest, The Daredevilz, Homegrown Africa, and Hope Cizzle. “Thula” is a South African Zulu word meaning “be quiet” or “silent.” However, the artists on this 5:53-minute track seemingly ignored the definition; they exhibit noise with hard-hitting punchlines that ironically overshadow the track’s title. “I’m Number one in street and corporate,” Phyzix declares in one standout line.

The artist, who emerged on the music scene two decades ago, shows he hasn’t lost his step. A melodious hook from Hope Cizzle emphasizes the concept of “Thula,” while iconic verses from The Daredevilz (Marcus and GD) add undeniable value to the song thanks to their hardcore approach. Meanwhile, Classick, of the duo Homegrown Africa, uses colloquial slang to confess that he recently went astray in drinking joints but is now back.
