Police are investigating a shooting incident in Nyanga which claimed the lives of three people. Three people were shot dead and a fourth injured in an attack in Nyanga on Christmas Day. According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the attack is “possibly linked to revenge or an attempt to eliminate a witness”.
A statement released by SAPS read: “The South African Police Service in the Western Cape strongly condemns the violent attack that claimed the lives of three people and left another critically injured in Nyanga on the evening of Wednesday, December 25. “The incident occurred at approximately 10pm at a residence in Mplangeni Street, Ofcon Hostel, where two unknown suspects allegedly entered a single-room structure and opened fire on the occupants. “Three people were fatally wounded, while a fourth victim sustained gunshot wounds and was transported to hospital in a critical condition. “The victims who succumbed to their injuries are estimated to be between 25 and 40 years of age.”
