Police in Bulwer arrested three suspects aged between 25 and 36 years old for stock theft, as well as possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, in two separate operations conducted on Wednesday. Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Paul Magwaza said three cattle were reported stolen at Thonsini area in the Bulwer policing precinct on Monday. “An intensive investigation by an off-duty police officer resulted in the recovery of two of the three stolen cattle at Shiyabazali area.
Two suspects were subsequently arrested,” he said. He added that the initial investigation revealed that one of the suspect had been previously arrested for a similar crime. “The complainant in this matter was able to positively identify the cattle as the ones that were stolen.
Investigations are still ongoing in trying to locate the other cattle.” In another operation, members from Bulwer police station were conducting a roadblock when they stopped a vehicle on the R617 road. Upon searching the driver of the vehicle, an unlisenced firearm was found in his possession. A check of the firearm revealed that it belonged to a deceased person from Klaarwater in Marriannhill.
