Three people have died in Ndola after a motorbike collided with a stationary truck near Mitengo Cemetery, police said on Tuesday. The accident comes after two similar motorcycle incidents reported in the past 24 hours in Kasama and Mungwi. According to police, the victims were riding a Boxer motorbike along the Ndola–Mufulira road when they crashed into a parked tipper truck.

Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Mwala Yuyi said the rider, identified as Felix Chama, aged between 20 and 25, reportedly lost control due to excessive speed. Yuyi said Chama suffered a crushed skull and leg fractures, while pillion passengers Maulid Abdi Mohamed, 34, and Mohamed Ahmed Farah, 56, sustained multiple injuries. “The bodies are at Ndola Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem,” he said.

The rise in motorcycle-related fatalities has prompted concern from road safety stakeholders, who are calling for stricter regulations for motorbike users.
