The family of slain taxi operator, Aleck Sinoia, is demanding justice following the appearance of his ex-wife, Apirizi Sekai (41), and her tenant, Munyaradzi Munyaradzi (24), before the Chegutu Magistrates’ Court this week The pair are accused of orchestrating Sinoia’s murder, a crime the family believes stems from years of acrimonious disputes and manipulative behaviour Sekai and Munyaradzi have been remanded in custody until July 30, 2025, and have been advised to seek bail at the High Court The National Prosecuting Authority alleges that Sekai approached Munyaradzi, her tenant, seeking individuals to eliminate her former husband

The prosecution stated that Sekai had a long-standing dispute with Sinoia regarding infidelity and the division of property following their separation Munyaradzi then allegedly contacted Cleopas Gomarara, who brought in Jefu According to the prosecution, the two hired men approached Sinoia, pretending to need a car for hire to Chegutu Hospital They then ambushed him, deflated the tyres of his vehicle, and stabbed him multiple times before fleeing the scene

The family’s grief is palpable, with Mercy Sinoia, Aleck’s sister, expressing the depth of their anguish and their desire for retribution “WHAT I would like her to know is that I don’t want her to live; it’s better for her to die and just follow your husband That’s the only way I will find peace,” she declared, encapsulating the family’s conviction that Sekai masterminded the brutal crime The Sinoia family claims that the murder was the culmination of years of bitter disputes and manipulative behaviour from Sekai

Yeukai Kota, Sinoia’s niece, shared details of the couple’s troubled relationship, marked by frequent police intervention “Even though my uncle had taken a second wife, he would visit her because he cared about her and the kids, but eventually she did him bad and took a peace order on him, accusing him that he had raped her,” Kota explained Kota further stated, “He spent days in remand prison but eventually got out after the court found it was fake because she wanted his fortunes” The family revealed that they only discovered Sekai’s alleged involvement in Sinoia’s death days after his burial

“We only found out two days later after we buried my brother that Sekai planned his death, when we were informed that she paid her tenant $200 to cripple my brother but then they took away his life,” Mercy Sinoia said Mercy Sinoia also recounted previous incidents of violence, stating, “Even if the courts haven’t decided this case, it’s the truth because she once took her family members to beat up my brother, and we also retaliated” Source: My Zimbabwe
