The 10-year-old developed her passion for the sport alongside her father, Fredwin Broodryk.

St Charles College pupil Miguel do Vale (12), who is in Grade Six, will also be swimming to raise funds for the organisation. The youngest of four children, Miguel enjoys a range of sports including hockey, tennis, squash, cricket and rugby. Their coach, Dr Pieta Erasmus has been coaching the duo during open-water training sessions at the dam.

Broodryk has also enjoyed the support of her beloved dog, Anna.
