Zvikomborero ParafiniONE of Harare’s top socialites was allegedly drugged at one of the capital’s leading night clubs before she was raped and dumped at Chisipite Shopping Centre in a naked state.She also lost her money in the incident.Campbell Nyakudya is being accused of committing the crimes and appeared at the Harare Magistrates Courts yesterday where he was charged with rape and theft.Nyakudya was not asked to plead when he appeared before magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa who released him on US$200 bail.The court heard that on Saturday, the complainant was at La Parada, a top restaurant and night club in Harare, where she was having drinks with her friends.They then decided to move to Karma Night Club.The complainant, according to the State, then went to the bathroom and when she returned to the table where they sitting, she realised that her friends had left.Nyakudya was standing with an unknown woman close to that table.The complainant then picked up her glass and continued to drink as she looked for her for friends.
She doesn’t remember anything else which followed.When she woke up at Chisipite Shopping Centre, she was naked and her body was only covered by a cloth.The complainant was then told by people who were at Chisipite Shopping Centre that she was pushed out of a moving car.The witnesses said they did not manage to capture the registration number of the car as it sped off.The complainant then realised that her handbag, which contained her iPhone 14 Pro Max, US$1,200 in cash and a wig, were missing.She filed a police report.She went to one of the two nightclubs where she reviewed CCTV footage of the night she passed out and ended up naked the following morning.According to the State, the footage shows a man spiking her drink with an unknown substance and then taking her to his car.Nyakudya was arrested on Tuesday.Leave a ReplyCancel reply
