Shebeshxt’s bail bid challenged over pending violent crime cases

Investigating officer Phaladi Makola took the stand and outlined a long list of past convictions, pending matters and alleged violent offences linked to the accused. Makola revealed that Chauke has a prior conviction from 2018 in Lebowakgomo, where he paid a R300 admission of guilt. You might also want to read:Shebeshxt bail bid resumes amid tight security He further told the court that Chauke currently faces two attempted murder charges, with both matters set for trial between February 18 and 20 , 2026 in the Lebowakgomo Regional Court.

In those cases, the court had granted him bail of R5 000 with conditions that he may not commit a Schedule 1 offence. “His bail conditions were that he should not commit a schedule one offence, however, he committed them,” Makola testified. According to the investigating officer, both murder victims died in stabbing-related incidents.

In one case, a sharp object was used, while in the second incident, the victim was stabbed with a knife.
