SEVEN alleged Junky Funky Kidz (JFK) gangsters who allegedly planned a hit on a witness in a case at the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court made their first court appearance on Wednesday. The gangsters, aged between 18 and 64 and may not be named or identified as per a court order, are facing Schedule 6 offences, including charges of being in the possession of three illegal firearms and 140 rounds of ammunition. The State alleges that on December 15 at about 1.30pm cops received information about armed suspects travelling to the court building in a Toyota Quantum.

The suspects were believed to be on their way to shoot a person testifying in court. Police officers spotted the vehicle and requested that they pull over in front of the court and get out of the vehicle. The court heard that pistols and ammunition were found on three of the accused, ammunition on one of the accused while another suspect was the driver of the Quantum.

The State further alleges that the accused are believed to belong to the JFK gang and said they may add a charge of conspiracy to commit murder. They added that they will be opposing their release on bail. The suspects were in possession of three illegal firearms and 140 rounds of ammunition.
