Sanral hikes toll tariffs by 3.12% from March: Here’s what they’ll cost

Motorists will be coughing up more at various toll plazas across the country from the beginning of March. The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (Sanral) announced that toll tariffs across its network will increase by 3.12% from Sunday, in line with the Consumer Price Index published by Statistics South Africa. A statement released by Sanral last week stated that the increase is lower than last year’s 4.85% adjustment.

Sanral communications and marketing general manager Vusi Mona said toll revenue remains essential to the agency’s operations and long-term sustainability. “The funds go a long way towards ensuring that Sanral fulfils its mandate of delivering quality road infrastructure that adds value to the lives of South African citizens,” said Mona. The increases affect toll plazas on the N1, N2, N3, N4, N17 and the R30, R730 and R34.
