South African motorists can look forward to another round of fuel price relief next week, with petrol and diesel prices expected to decrease from Wednesday (February 5),reportsZululand Observer. While the cuts are likely to be slightly smaller than initially forecast, they will mark a second consecutive month of decreases, which is welcome news for households and businesses feeling the pinch of rising living costs. According to month-end data from theCentral Energy Fund (CEF),petrol prices are expected to drop by between 63 and 69 cents per litre, while diesel could decrease by 63 to 71 cents per litre.

The moderation in the expected cuts comes amid a sharp rise in global oil prices, driven by heightened geopolitical tensions. However, a stronger rand has helped offset these pressures, keeping price reductions firmly on the table. The final adjustments will be confirmed by the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, but all indicators point to lower prices at the pumps next week.
