RISING gospel singer Rudo Madindi has opened up about her deep passion for ministry, declaring that her journey in music is driven more by purpose than fame — and she is not backing down anytime soon. Madindi made the powerful remarks following a moving performance at the Celestial Chorus in South Africa, where she left audiences spellbound with her spirit-filled delivery. Her performance was not just musical — it was a message.

Speaking after the show, Madindi said ministering before a receptive crowd made all the difference. “Firstly, all glory goes to God who enabled me to minister. When you have a responsive audience, it becomes easier and more fulfilling to perform.

“The crowd at Celestial was such a blessing — I was able to be myself and truly minister,” she said. “It goes beyond just singing — it’s about delivering a message that people can understand and relate to,” she added.Madindi also weighed in on the evolving gospel music scene, highlighting how diversity is reshaping the industry. “We are now seeing SDA hymnal songs being rearranged to suit this generation, and that is bringing a new flavour to the industry. “It’s exciting because it allows different denominations to come together under one purpose,” she said.

The singer said platforms like Celestial were breaking barriers and fostering unity among gospel artists from different backgrounds — something she believes is key to the future of the genre. But, beyond the music, Madindi had a strong message for women in gospel — a call for resilience in the face of challenges. “Women in gospel must remain strong, no matter the obstacles. There will always be challenges, but our strength comes from God and from knowing our purpose,” she said.
