By granting legal ownership of land, the government aims to encourage investment, increase yields, and strengthen food security.
Tomorrow’s event will see the largest single issuance of title deeds since the programme began, a significant step forward in land reform and rural empowerment.
In addition to the title deeds, President Mnangagwa will also commission production booster kits to support farmers’ operations.
These kits, which include pumps, pipes, and related irrigation equipment, are part of an initiative aimed at guaranteeing at least one hectare of irrigated land per farmer — enabling year-round agricultural production. “This move brings finality and closure to the Land Reform Programme,” said Dr.
George Dhliwayo, National Chairman of TitleDeeds4ED, in an interview ahead of the event. “We are elated that, finally, land is now coming back — legally — to its rightful owners.
We are fully mobilized for this historic moment, which marks a critical step towards delivering title deeds to over 360,000 landholders nationwide. ”
Craigengower Farm, which has been subdivided into A1 plots, is home to a large population of war veterans, who account for around 70% of the current beneficiaries. 🔗
