Support for the initiative was evident, with strong participation from the School Head, Village Heads, and the Village Development Committee (VIDCO)—all of whom reinforced the importance of local ownership and collaboration in driving rural development.

The DOSTARO team, led by Talent Gosho, has been instrumental in supporting and facilitating the Pfumvudza rollout in the area.

As the training progressed, lead farmers showed great enthusiasm, actively engaging in discussions and sharing their experiences.

Their goal: to pass on the knowledge to their peers, ensuring the benefits of the program ripple through the entire community.

The establishment of the demonstration site at Rockbar Farm marks a pivotal step in the program’s implementation.

Designed as a hub for knowledge sharing and innovation, the site will showcase best practices in sustainable, climate-resilient agriculture.

In her closing remarks, Nola Marumbwa underscored the importance of the initiative, reminding farmers of the national development theme: “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo” – The land is built and developed by its owners.

She stressed the urgent need for food security and encouraged farmers to take agriculture seriously, treating it as both a livelihood and a national duty. “Let us work together to ensure our farmers are well-equipped with the knowledge and skills to farm sustainably and productively,” she urged.

As the training wrapped up, the atmosphere was filled with optimism.

The lead farmers, now equipped with new tools and information, were ready to return to their communities and drive change.

The Pfumvudza/Intwasa program has sparked renewed hope in Mhondoro Ngezi—and with continued support, it is set to transform lives and livelihoods across the district.
