Minister of Transport and Logistics Frank Tayali has disclosed that more than 28,000 Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs) were recorded from January to November of this year, resulting in 893 fatalities. Speaking during the launch of Road Safety Week on national television, which was monitored by the media, Tayali stated that road crashes remain one of the leading causes of death and injury in Zambia.
He expressed regret over the rising number of deaths and injuries stemming from road carnage. The Minister attributed most accidents to factors including speeding, drunken driving, reckless overtaking, and failure to adhere to road signs.
