A Nyanga man learnt the hard way that riding a motorbike without a licence is not as smooth as it sounds.According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), Andrew Chinanga (46) of Mandicheta Village under Chief Hata was slapped with a US$200 fine after he was caught parking his unregistered Lifan motorbike at Corner Café Restaurant in Nyamhuka 1 Business Centre.“Police detectives on patrol observed the offender parking an unregistered Lifan motorbike.
Upon being asked to produce his driver’s licence, he admitted that he was not a holder of any valid driving licence, leading to his immediate arrest,” said the NPAZ.His two-wheeled ‘freedom machine’ didn’t make it far — the cops seized the motorbike right on the spot.The Nyanga Magistrates’ Court found Chinanga guilty of violating the Road Traffic Act and warned that pretending to be a biker without proper papers could land one in deeper trouble next time.“Unlicensed driving poses serious risks to public safety.
