Gina and Esther Esau from Retreat who have been selected to represent South Africa in France at the World Dance Sport Federation. The set of twins from Retreat who have been selected to represent South Africa in France at the World Dance Sport Federation (WDSF) have been dubbed “The Les Twins, ” as they are expected to receive their SA colours under the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCO). The Les Twins are identical and are world-renowned for their choreography and dance and are from France.
Gina Storm and Esther Jenny Esau, who are in Grade 9 at Norman Henshilwood High School, began their artistic journey at the tender age of six when they were enrolled in ballet classes in 2017 and are continuing to raise R100,000 to get to France. They hosted a show at Heathfield High School on Saturday which featured artists Emo Adams and others. They are set to showcase their talent in their dance techniques, which are a blend of hip-hop, classical ballet, and energetic street-style routines internationally.
The twins are part of GSquared Dance Movement under their wings. Gio Fisher of GSquared is also the chairperson of the Western Cape Dance Federation. The twins, Gina and Esther Esau with their dance club, GSqaured Dance Movement.

“We did not have opportunities as these girls had when we were younger to dance on the international stage, but there are now,” said GSquared.“We are going to work hard to get our kids on that international stage. They have qualified through rigorous fixtures; it didn’t come easy. They competed against eight provinces, there were over 600 dances at Nationals in Gauteng, and they came out tops.
They now go to compete at the World Dance Sports Federation World Championships in France. These are your children from Retreat, Steenberg, and Lotus River, who are making it to that stage.” “When twins go to France in November, on approval of SASCO, they will achieve their SA colours.” Their mother, Jasmine Easu, who arranged the fundraiser, said, “The time is getting closer for the funds to come in, and I trust a sponsor will step forward. I am not sending one daughter; I am sending twins, so the challenge is big, and they have worked very hard. For me to drop now, I will continue to work hard for them.” Emo Adams also said he was encouraged by the twins: “If you dream it, you can achieve it.”
