Rescue teams are continuing the search for the two missing men at Pennington Beach, on the south coast of KZN. Samantha Meyrick, from IPSS Medical Rescue, said that lifeguards, NSRI and SAPS Search and Rescue have returned to the beach to continue the search on Saturday morning. “They were last seen on Thursday night, when a group of five swimmers got into difficulty.
One person was successfully rescued, and sadly, two bodies have since been recovered,” she said. In a separate incident in Ballito, IPSS Search and Rescue teams, together with KwaDukuza lifeguards, are searching the coastline for a man who went missing while swimming at Thompson’s Bay Beach on Friday morning. Search crews are using jet skis and boats in an effort to locate the missing swimmer. “Conditions are not ideal, as the wind has picked up, which may hamper search efforts as the day progresses,” Meyrick added.
