HARARE – It never rains but pours for prominent clergyman, Prophet Walter Magaya. Just ten months after being exposed for allegedly faking his O-Level results, the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries leader is reportedly in hot soup again following a High Court writ of execution. Magaya now risks losing his hotel and stadium.
The four-star standard hotel facility, several cluster houses or lodges, a stadium, and ancillary developments, owned by PHD Ministries is set to be auctioned following a High Court writ of execution. According to court records under Case Number SH3294/25, Chinese national Li Xiu Yun successfully applied for the sale in execution of the ministry’s rights and title to Stand 168 of Prospect, a 3.84-hectare property located at 168 Smuts Road, Prospect, Waterfalls in Harare. The property’s impending sale represents a significant financial and legal setback for PHD Ministries, which in recent years expanded its footprint through property and business ventures under Prophet Magaya.
The development comes as the Magayas face mounting legal and financial challenges. In June this year, GetBucks Microfinance Bank Limited filed a High Court application seeking to liquidate the personal estates of Walter Magaya and his wife, Tendai, over an outstanding debt of US$420,140.72. The application followed a High Court judgement issued in October 2024 ordering the couple, along with their company Planet Africa (Private) Limited, to pay the outstanding sum plus 10% monthly interest from September 11, 2024, until settlement.
