HARARE – President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Thursday officially opened The Sprout, a five-star restaurant with state-of-the-art facilities located at the Geo Pomona Waste Management dumpsite. The President was hosted for a luncheon at the new establishmen along with senior government and Harare City Council officials. The company is also noted for its corporate social responsibility initiatives that support local communities.
The restaurant features elegant dining rooms, a modern bar, comprehensive ablution and restroom facilities setting a high standard for eco-friendly infrastructure. It forms part of a waste-to-energy project by Geo Pomona, which integrates environmental management with energy production. Geo Pomona has recently completed essential infrastructure, including a weighbridge, a hazardous waste landfill, an encapsulation unit, a water treatment plant, a fleet service centre and a sorting plant.
The company is also constructing an 18–22 megawatt power plant, which is expected to enhance Zimbabwe’s energy capacity. Addressing guests at the opening, President Mnangagwa stated: “It is my privilege and pleasure to be back here atGeo Pomona Waste Management site; following myprevious visits. ” Ndakataura kuti nzvimbo ino yakanakisa kutiunogona kuwuya nemudikani wako, muchidyamachips.
