President Hakainde Hichilema has described late Southern Province Permanent Secretary Namani Monze as a dependable public servant who served the Zambian people with integrity, commitment and humility during his tenure in public office. Dr Monze was laid to rest at his family farm in Bwacha Ward of Choma District, where mourners gathered to pay their final respects, with First Lady Mutinta Hichilema among those in attendance. The President, in a speech read on his behalf by Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa, said Dr Monze distinguished himself through dedicated service across key sectors including health, education and infrastructure development.

“He was a dependable public servant who served with integrity, commitment and humility,” he said President Hichilema further paid tribute to Dr Monze’s calm leadership style, noting that he was a civil servant who avoided controversy and instead focused on delivering results for the people. He said such qualities were rare and worthy of emulation by those currently serving in government. ” Dr Monze understood public office and executed his duties with diligence, his death was a profound loss to the public service and the nation at large”, he said.

He also emphasized that government would remember Dr Monze not only for his professional contributions but also for his ability to work with communities and traditional leaders in fostering development at the grassroots level. The President said his spirit of collaboration had helped strengthen service delivery in Southern Province. The Head of State further extended his condolences to the bereaved family, urging them to take comfort in the legacy of service and respect that Dr Monze left behind.
