President Hakainde Hichilema has pledged to accelerate development in Chipili District of Luapula Province through the implementation of various infrastructure and social development projects. Mr Hichilema said government is committed to improving the welfare of the people of Chipili by expanding access to quality public services and upgrading infrastructure in the district. Speaking during a community engagement meeting in Chipili District, President Hichilema pledged to construct a district hospital, Mwenda Boarding School and a modern bus station, as well as completing the construction of district offices, among other projects.

He said the people of Chipili deserve improved health facilities, better education infrastructure and an enhanced road network to support economic and social development. President Hichilema said government will continue implementing programmes that respond to the needs of communities, particularly in the sectors of education, health, agriculture and infrastructure. “If you use your vote wisely to vote for the UPND, all these projects will be rolled out in Chipili District in order to improve the welfare of the people, so go and vote on the 13th August general elections for continued development, ” he said.

The Head of State further pledged to increase the number of Food Reserve Agency depots in order to enable farmers to easily access markets for their produce. Mr Hichilema said he has directed the FRA to ensure that farmers are paid promptly, within four days of selling their produce. He also assured farmers that government will increase support under the Farmer Input Support Programme to ensure beneficiaries receive adequate inputs for their farming activities instead of receiving insufficient quantities.

President Hichilema further pledged to create more employment opportunities for teachers, health workers and agriculture extension officers among others to improve service delivery in Chipili and other parts of the country. He said government will continue implementing the Social Cash Transfer and Cash for Work programmes fairly across the country without discrimination. President Hichilema reaffirmed government’s commitment to taking development to all parts of the country and ensuring that rural communities benefited from national development programmes.
