President of Mozambique Daniel Chapo will on Tuesday open the Renewables Mozambique (RENMOZ) in Europe, a high-level investment forum taking place in Brussels on 17–18 March. The forum aims to showcase a structured project pipeline for Mozambique’s energy sector, designed to facilitate informed investment decisions and attract European investment, according to the organisers. Joining President Chapo will be key stakeholders from Mozambique’s energy sector, including Marcelina Mataveia (National Director of Energy), Joaquim Ou-chim (CEO of Electricidade de Moçambique – EDM), Isalia Dimene Munguambe (Chairwoman of FUNAE, Mozambique’s Fund for Energy), Tomás Matola (Chairperson of Cahora Bassa Hydroelectric – HCB) and Carlos Yum (Director-General of Mphanda Nkuwa Hydroelectric Project Implementation Office – GMNK).
RENMOZ in Europe will also feature participation from relevant companies, including EDF International Networks, Siemens Energy, Source Energia, MCA Group, JCM Power, Gridworks, Confidere Sweden, ARC Power, ABB Kabeldon, Quadrante Engenharia, Hitachi Energy, Miranda & Associados and Multiconsult. Among the financiers and development partners attending are Agence Française de Développement, British International Investment, Beyond the Grid Fund for Africa, European Investment Bank, Enabel, KfW Development Bank, GIZ, EDFI, Standard Bank Group, SNV, SIDA and Norfund. With around 150 participants expected, RENMOZ in Europe will be a high-level investment forum showcasing a high-quality investment pipeline covering on-grid, transmission and off-grid projects in Mozambique.
According to the organisers, by breaking down the different business opportunities across the projects’ value chain, the forum intends to connect European expertise, technology and finance with Mozambique’s energy project pipeline, strengthening procurement quality, fostering joint bidding and accelerating investment in clean energy infrastructure. The event will facilitate high-quality networking opportunities to connect investors, financiers and private sector partners. RENMOZ in Europe is organised by the Lusophone Renewable Energy Association (ALER) and the Mozambican Renewable Energy Association (AMER), supported by GET.invest, with the institutional backing of the Mozambican public authorities and financial contributions from the European Union, Germany, Sweden and Belgium.
