Specific areas of focus for TICAD, include, infrastructure development, industrialisation and economic growth, health and human development, agriculture and food security and peace and stability.
These areas resonate with Zimbabwe’s development objectives in pursuit of Vision 2030, to become an upper middle income economy.
Over the years, TICAD has been instrumental in promoting African development and strengthening international partnerships.
Japan is home to major automotive companies like Toyota, Honda, and Nissan, its electronics industry is highly competitive globally, with companies like Sony and Toshiba.
Apart from that, Japan, a country with a population of roughly 124 million, boasting of US$ 4. 19 trillion GDP, is a leader in high-tech manufacturing, including robotics, optical instruments, and hybrid vehicles.
In Japan, the President is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Professor Amon Murwira, Minister of Finance, Economic and investment Promotion Professor Mthuli Ncube.
A number of Zimbabwe’s state enterprises are taking part at this year’s event with a view to maximise on the strong presence at Osaka 2025 expo where Zimbabwe proved to be a major attraction.
President Mnangagwa was received by Zimbabwe Ambassador to Japan Mr Stewart Nyakotyo embassy officials and top Japanese government officials.
The triennial conference, whose hosting alternates between an African nation and Japan, will be co-chaired by Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and Angolan President Joao Lourenco, who is the current African Union Chairperson, with more than 40 African nations expected to participate. 🔗
