The South African Police Service (SAPS) is offering a R150 000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of Jabulani Thabang Moyo, who is wanted in connection with the killing of two police officers in Roodepoort on Friday, 8 August 2025 Police confirmed that the officers, both detectives attached to the trio task team, were shot dead in Florida, Johannesburg, at about 10:30am According to SAPS, they had just collected a suspect — believed to be Moyo — for a court appearance at the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court in connection with a 2023 business robbery case “Our members went to fetch a suspect that was to appear in the Roodepoort magistrate’s court in a case of business robbery that occurred in 2023,” police spokesperson Lt-Col Mavela Masondo said
After the court proceedings, the officers were transporting the suspect back to Boksburg Prison when the shooting occurred Moyo allegedly shot both detectives inside the vehicle, killing them instantly Police said the suspect then took the officers’ firearms and drove away in the unmarked police vehicle The car was later found abandoned a few kilometres from the scene of the killings
SAPS described Moyo as extremely dangerous and urged the public not to approach him under any circumstances “This criminal is very dangerous, do not approach him, he has no regard for life and we are warning anyone that has information to come forward and not approach this killer,” the police said in a statement Anyone with information about Moyo’s whereabouts is urged to contact Warrant Officer Rabosiwana from the Hawks on072 844 4442 Tip-offs can also be made via the Crime Stop number or the MySAPS app
