GABORONE – Police in Botswana have arrested a 29-year-old Zimbabwean national, Evans Sivechere, on allegations of orchestrating an international job-seeker scam that reportedly defrauded clients of more than P240,000 (US$17 500). Sivechere, also known as Vecco Lupa, a Director of Diamond Migration (PTY) Ltd based in Gaborone, was taken into custody on Sunday, 22 November 2025, at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport following extensive police investigations. He was arraigned before the Village Magistrate Court on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, facing 11 counts of fraud.

According to the charge sheet, the alleged offences occurred between October 2024 and 23 October 2025. During this period, Sivechere and his company are accused of taking money from 11 individuals under the pretext of securing employment and processing work permits for opportunities abroad. Victims reportedly submitted full documentation and payments but later discovered that the promised jobs did not exist.

The fraudulent job offers allegedly included placements in Ireland, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Finland, Poland and Greece. Police say more charges could follow as investigations remain ongoing. Sivechere has been remanded in custody and is expected back in court on 2 December 2025.
