Police in Chitipa District have called on residents and other stakeholders to work together to combat crime. Speaking on Wednesday during a review meeting, Chitipa Police Station officer-in-charge Morgan Dzonzi said everyone has a responsibility to ensure safety. During the meeting, he said the district registered a decline in crimes and road traffic accidents in 2025.
Dzonzi said 441 crimes were registered in 2024 while in 2025 they registered 385 crimes. He said: “We recorded 29 road accidents in 2024 while in 2025 we registered 24. “However, everyone should be responsible to reduce such road accidents.
For instance, drivers should refrain from overloading and overspeeding.” Dzonzi urged law enforcers, especially traffic police officers, to avoid corruption. He reminded them to enforce all traffic rules with integrity. Chitipa district commissioner Frank Mkandawire thanked the police for sharing the update.
