Police have arrested a total of 1,050 individuals during a large-scale traffic enforcement operation, officials confirmed.
As part of the clampdown, 479 pirate taxis were impounded, with investigations revealing that 10 of these vehicles were stolen.
“The cases are now being investigated by CID VTS. Some of the pirate taxis are not even registered with the CVR,” a police source said.
In addition, 308 touts were arrested. “Some have been taken to court and remanded until 31/07/25, while others paid deposit fines.
Some of the touts are being screened for repeat offenders and action by the courts,” the source added.
Furthermore, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) identified 551 traffic violators who fled the scene upon spotting police checkpoints.
“The vehicle registration numbers will be published soon.
Let us promote road safety by observing the country’s road rules and regulations,” said the source.
