Pirates dominate PSL Awards as Mofokeng claims top prize

Relebohile Mofokeng capped off a sensational 2025/26 season by emerging as the biggest winner at the PSL Awards on Monday night, collecting three of the evening’s top honours. The 21-year-old, who recently secured a move abroad after starring for Orlando Pirates, was named PSL Footballer of the Season, Betway Premiership Players’ Player of the Season and Betway Premiership Young Player of the Season. League champions Orlando Pirates also dominated the Betway Premiership awards.

Head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou was named Coach of the Season, while Sipho Chaine won Goalkeeper of the Season, Lebone Seema claimed Defender of the Season, Oswin Appollis was named Midfielder of the Season, and Camren Dansin earned the Goal of the Season award. Retiring goalkeeper Darren Keet was honoured as the Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament after helping Durban City lift the trophy. Seluleko Mahlambi of TS Galaxy received the Most Promising Player of the Tournament award.

Former Orlando Pirates defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi won the Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament accolade, while teammate Tshepang Moremi was crowned the MTN8 Last Man Standing. Cape Town City dominated the Motsepe Foundation Championship awards, with Emile Witbooi named Players’ Player of the Season, Gabriel Armato taking the Young Player of the Season award and Mickey van der Hart winning Goalkeeper of the Season. In the DStv Diski Challenge, Mamelodi Sundowns youngster Bennet Mokoena completed a stellar campaign by claiming both the Player of the Season and Top Goal Scorer awards. Match officials were also recognised, with Eugene Mdluli named Referee of the Season and Nandipha Menze awarded Assistant Referee of the Season.
