Fidelis ChavarikePost ReporterTWO suspected thieves have been arrested in Chipinge, in connection with two counts of unlawful entry.The arrests took place on July 30.Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka said the suspects – Farai Bangazi (40), from Low-Density, Chipinge and his 17-year-old accomplice from Espungabeira, Mozambique – are accused of breaking into two households in Chipinge, primarily targeting plasma televisions.“In April, Daniel Sigauke’s house in Usanga was broken into, and the suspects stole a 42-inch Samsung plasma television. On July 2, the same accused persons allegedly broke into Richard Dhalakama’s house and stole a 32-inch Keson plasma TV, a Huawei cellphone, three memory cards, and US$4,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.He said following a tip-off, police interviewed the 17-year-old suspect on July 30, and he reportedly confessed to the crimes before implicating Bangazi.Both suspects were subsequently arrested and face charges of unlawful entry under Section 131 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23].
