OVER 400 farmers from different parts of Matabeleland are attending the Farmers Great Indaba – Inkundla Yabalimi in Bulawayo at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre (ZIEC).
The event brings together key stakeholders in the agriculture sector to shape the future of farming in Zimbabwe.It places a strong focus on smallholder farmers, who are the backbone of Zimbabwe’s food security.
Farmers Great Indaba Founder and Chairperson Mrs Progress Moyo said in alignment with Government efforts to support local farmers and producers, the indaba will explore strengthening value chains – ensuring that farmers not only produce but also benefit from structured and reliable market access.
“It will also tackle linking farmers to markets – helping them connect with buyers, processors, and manufacturers for sustainable supply arrangements,” she said.
“On market literacy, it will empower farmers to better understand how the market operates, including quality standards, demand trends, and pricing structures. This will help them make informed decisions as they plan for the next farming season.”
She said the goal was to foster collaboration among stakeholders, while creating an enabling environment where smallholder farmers thrive, and local production contributes to both community development and national growth.
The event is held in collaboration with Agricultural and Rural Development Advisory Services (ARDAS), CBZ Agroyields and other stakeholders.
