THE Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) has urged the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to act with independence and professionalism ahead of the 2026 general elections. ZCCB also says the church premises will not be used for political campaigns. Meanwhile, ZCCB says the public media should offer fair coverage to all political parties as they are not the property of the ruling party.
In a Pastoral letter issued on Saturday, ZCCB stated that the Electoral Code of Conduct remains a national moral compass during the elections. “In 2016, we insisted that ‘a peaceful election must be preceded by a transparent and credible process’. That message remains more urgent than ever.
