Osasuna pulled off one of the most memorable results of the La Liga season by beating Real Madrid 2–1 at the Estadio El Sadar on Saturday. Real Madrid headed into the fixture top of La Liga and in strong form, aiming to extend their lead and continue a winning streak that had seen them dominate the domestic campaign. On the other side, Osasuna came in as underdogs, looking to build on a solid home record and climb the table.

In a match reported by beinsports.com, the opening stages were cagey as Osasuna set up deep and looked to frustrate the visitors, forcing Real Madrid to probe for openings through sustained possession and probing passes from midfield and wide areas. Osasuna struck first in the 38th minute when Ante Budimir calmly converted from the penalty spot after Real Madrid keeper Thibaut Courtois was adjudged to have fouled him in the box. Madrid stepped up their intensity after the break and were rewarded in the 73rd minute when Vinícius Júnior finished from close range following a fine cross from Federico Valverde to level the score and put the visitors back on terms.

The contest opened up in the final stages as both sides searched for a winner, with Real Madrid pushing forward in numbers and Osasuna looking to spring forwards on the counter and seize any opportunity that presented itself. In stoppage time, Osasuna snatched the victory when a rare error by the Madrid midfield allowed substitute Raúl García de Haro to slot home the decisive goal. The defeat hands Barcelona a chance to regain top spot in La Liga with a game in hand.
