One critically wounded in Howick shooting incident

A person is fighting for their life after being shot near the Howick Main Bridge in the early hours of Saturday morning. According to Midlands EMS spokesperson Roland Robertson, crews, along with the Midlands EMS Rescue K9 Unit, were dispatched to the scene at around 1am following reports of a shooting. “Upon arrival, it was found that one person had sustained a gunshot wound and was in a critical condition, requiring urgent medical care on scene,” Robertson said.

The patient received urgent medical treatment on scene before being stabilised and transported to a specialist hospital for further care. Robertson said authorities were also on scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
