Old Mutual gets approval to move Zim listing to VFEX , trading starts August 12

15By Nyasha ChumaHARARE — Financial services group Old Mutual Limited has received approval to move its secondary listing in Zimbabwe from the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange to the US dollar-denominated Victoria Falls Stock Exchange. Trading in Old Mutual shares on VFEX will officially start on August 12.In a notice released Tuesday, Old Mutual said the migration follows an earlier announcement made on July 10 2026 through the Johannesburg Stock Exchange News Service.The company confirmed that all required regulatory approvals for the move have now been completed.Old Mutual’s shares have been suspended from the ZSE since June 2020. At the time, authorities stopped trading in a few dual-listed companies over concerns that share prices were being used to calculate an unofficial exchange rate.

While the ZSE reopened two months later, Old Mutual remained suspended.The company said the VFEX now has enough scale and liquidity to act as a viable alternative trading platform. Because VFEX trades in US dollars, the move is also expected to reduce currency risk for Zimbabwean shareholders. The migration means shareholders will once again be able to buy and sell Old Mutual shares, hold them, receive dividends and participate in company decisions.On the first day of trading, the price will be set entirely by the market.

Buyers and sellers will submit bids and offers through the VFEX system, and there will be no price limits applied. From the second day of trading, the exchange’s normal rule of a 20% daily price limit will apply.Old Mutual operates in 12 countries across Africa, Asia and China and has more than 160 years of history.
