Controversial ZANU PF figure Killer Zivhu has stirred fierce debate after declaring that “no one alive” in Zimbabwe is intellectually capable of challenging President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Posting on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Zivhu wrote:“Those who could counter his intellect are deceased; among Zimbabwe’s living, none remain.
The trajectory to 2030 seems unstoppable unless he decides otherwise. Anorema murume uyu kwete zvenyu zvekum*ma zviya.”
The cryptic yet provocative statement has been interpreted by critics as reinforcing authoritarianism and encouraging a dangerous political culture rooted in personality worship.
“What exactly is Zivhu implying? That Mnangagwa is beyond criticism, beyond opposition, and somehow ordained to rule indefinitely?” asked a Harare-based political analyst. “This isn’t praise — it’s propaganda.”
Zivhu, who has previously clashed with ZANU PF leadership and was expelled in 2020, has more recently adopted a pro-establishment tone.
His latest remarks appear aimed at reasserting his relevance within ruling party circles — although his messages often blend praise with controversy.
In the same post, Zivhu also criticized ongoing discussions around adopting the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) as the country’s main currency, using sarcastic and informal language to suggest that officials are gambling with the economy.
“Chimbomirai feja-feja economics varume, moda kudzokorora zviya futi. Kana dzarema njuga, chingojoinayi Rand League — inga ANC ndevamwe vedu wani,” he wrote, implying that Zimbabwe should consider joining South Africa’s monetary zone rather than experimenting with failed policies.
The contrasting tone — effusive praise for Mnangagwa and sharp critique of government economic decisions — left some political commentators questioning Zivhu’s intentions.
Government is yet to officially respond to Zivhu’s comments.
