Mzembi was arrested for allegedly unlawfully disposing of 16 LED television screens valued at US$800,000, which had been procured for public screenings during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The former minister reportedly donated the State-owned screens to various churches.
In addition, he faces charges of misappropriating funds mobilized for the 20th United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) General Assembly, which Zimbabwe co-hosted with Zambia in 2013.
According to the State, Mzembi allegedly sourced sponsorship from companies such as Mbada Diamonds but diverted the money into an unregistered trust account, instead of official government channels. 🔗
