Candidates contesting the Nkulumane Constituency National Assembly seat participated in a town hall debate on Wednesday, sharing their plans and engaging directly with voters ahead of the by-election scheduled for 20 December. The seat became vacant following the death of Desire Moyo in a car accident last October. The debate provided a platform for the aspirants to present their manifestos and respond to questions from the electorate on issues affecting the community. Voters were given the opportunity to assess how each candidate plans to address local challenges and contribute to development in Nkulumane.Zanu-PF’s candidate, Cde Freedom Murechu, outlined his vision for the constituency, emphasising how the party’s national development agenda would be localised to deliver tangible benefits.

He highlighted planned projects, including government-supported initiatives in housing and infrastructure, and assured residents that Nkulumane would play an active role in the country’s pursuit of an upper-middle-income economy. The town hall debate marked a key moment in the by-election campaign, allowing voters to directly compare candidates’ priorities and approaches as the constituency prepares to elect a new representative.
