Nkayi man in court for “raping” mentally ill woman

Kimberley Chitambara,[email protected]A 69-YEAR-OLD Nkayi man has appeared in court for allegedly raping a mentally ill villager.Den Nkomo of Matshuzula Village under Chief Nkalakatha appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Mr Archie Wochiunga facing a rape charge. He was remanded in custody to November 4 for trial.Prosecutor Mr Owen Mugari told the court that on July 10, at around 2PM, the complainant was alone at home when Nkomo allegedly approached her.“The accused person forcibly grabbed the complainant by the waist from behind and went on to pull up her dress before raping her,” said Mr Mugari.The matter was reported to the police, leading to Nkomo’s arrest.
