Nico Group has pumped K25 million into the 2025 Malawi Sports Awards scheduled for February 28 at Sunbird Livingstonia Convention Centre in Salima. The group’s head of corporate affairs Mbumba Mlia-Ndasauka yesterday said the platinum sponsorship underscores the continued commitment to Malawi sports development as part of its long-term social investment and youth empowerment agenda by the group, which includes NBS Bank plc and Eris Properties Limited. “Nico’s investment in sports is grounded in our belief that sports play a critical role in national development.

It inspires communities, build discipline in young people and create pathways for professional and personal growth,” she said. “Sponsoring the Malawi Sport Awards is, therefore, a natural extension of our long-standing commitment to nurturing talent, celebrating excellence and supporting the organisations and athletes, who raise Malawi’s flag high.” Mlia-Ndasauka said they feel it is the right time to honour individuals that contribute to the progress of sports in the country. She also emphasised that the sponsorship aligns with Nico Group’s corporate values and commitment to enabling inclusive progress in Malawi.

Their contribution will significantly enhance the quality and prestige of the event,” he said.
