THE Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM) has raised concern over new regulations limiting duty suspension on manufacturing inputs, warning the amendment threatens investment stability, and growth of Zambia’s industrial sector. ZAM has also urged the government, to reconsider the amendment and engage in meaningful consultation with industry stakeholders prior to its implementation. In a statement, Saturday, ZAM president Mohammed Umar said although the association appreciated government’s continued efforts to align fiscal policies with national development goals, it was deeply troubled by the amendment that restricted duty suspension to just 50 percent of manufacturing inputs.
