Music, dance light up Bushiri’s birthday

Golden Peacock Hotel Auditorium in Lilongwe was alive with music and dance on Saturday as Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG)-The Jesus Nation founder Prophet Shepherd Bushiri celebrated his birthday. The event drew a diverse audience comprising church members, guests and leaders from different sectors. Celebrations on the night opened on a high note with the Tribe of Judah Choir from ECG Church performing a joyful Happy Birthday tribute to the prophet.

Just after their harmonious voices filled the auditorium, guests joined in with cheers. Adding energy to the stage were the Prophetic Dancers from Mzuzu and Lilongwe. Their dance moves captivated the audience and attracted rounds of applause.

The musical journey continued with another heartfelt performance by Steve Spesho who was joined by his sister Miracle Chinga, children of the fallen gospel music icon Grace Chinga. Steve Spesho performed aHappy Birthdaysong dedicated to the man of the moment spicing up what was about to be a night of celebration. After his performance, Mapenenga Dance Group in their khaki costume Their performance highlighted love, unity and community service qualities that mirror Prophet Bushiri’s charity work.

Manganya and Winiko encouraged fellow Malawians to learn from the man of God. The night reached a climax with surprise performances from international stars. Democratic Republic of Congo music legend Kanda Bongo Man thrilled the crowd with his classic hits.

The Kwasa-Kwasa star performed two songs, includingMuchana, one of his hits released in 1993. It was evident old gurus enjoyed the set more than young fellows. After the Congolese set, Zambian sensation Yo Maps took the stage and it was time for the youthful audience to dance.
