The legislator from the Douglas Mwonzora outfit is accused of assaulting Kudzanai Mashumba, who is a former aid of Dr. Thokozani Khuphe at a press conference on the 21st of November 2021.
Musarurwa instigated violence against Mashumba, accusing him of not being a member of the MDC-T political party and therefore could not represent the interests of the party. Other political members joined in and aided Musarurwa in further assaulting him.
This is not the first time that Musarurwa has been involved in cases laden with violence.
In 2018, she was released from prison after serving five years jail term for murder charges. She was convicted for murdering a police officer in Glen View.
According to court papers, ‘‘Musarurwa pushed Mashumba with open hands on the chest intending to cause bodily harm on him knowing or realising that there was a real risk or possibility that by doing so on him, bodily harm might result and inflicted injuries on Kudzanai Mashumba’’.
It is believed that at the press conference Mashumba wanted to cause factions by intending to expose the theft of MDC-T funds by party president Mwonzora, henceforth Musarurwa went on to attack him to prevent him from disclosing that information.
However, in an interview, Mwonzora denied that the issue had anything with politics.
“Whatever that has happened between Musarurwa and Mashumba it has nothing to do with the political factions MDC-T is still one united party,’’ he said.
