The Municipal Council of Marracuene warns landowners in the municipality that they have three months from today, 16 February, to begin using and effectively exploiting their plots, under penalty of having their rights over these areas reverted to the local authority.
A note issued by the Marracuene Municipal Council indicates that, within the established deadline, landowners must “undertake the necessary steps to make use of their land.” Marracuene is one of the municipalities with large areas of idle land, well located in safe zones, which contrasts with the fact that some of its residents live in remote areas prone to flooding. At the height of the (post-election protest period, some unoccupied plots were invaded and subdivided by the local population.
